   Well, sorry about the 2 stars on the HP Touchsmart. I would have given it a one star, but I don’t want to be too discouraging.

   I was looking for an upgrade to my trusted ASUS 1000HA. You know, Win 7, larger screen, DVD player and wow, a touch screen! I’ll keep it short.

   PROS:
   
   Sexy Specifications.
   
   Nice 12.1″ Screen.
   
   Great keyboard
   
   Nice fit and Finish.
   
   Not too heavy.

   CONS:
   
   I could not connect to the wireless router. I struggled for while. I then placed the Touchsmart within 5 feet of the router. Hey! I could connect. Wow! Good. I called HP tech support. They were helpful and suggested I download the latest drivers. This immediately put me into an ill spot. What? Are you shipping me a BETA product, and for it to work I need to download the latest drivers? Well I did download the latest wireless driver and guess what? It helped! Yet, I still could not get as far away as my trusty 1000HA. Oh well.

   While the specs look sexy and fast, this is one of the slowest notebooks I ever used. I can’t wait and wait and wait for IE to load a page. Every thing runs super slow on this machine. I don’t have the time to troubleshoot why it is so slow, so back it goes!

   The fan is super noisy. Come on guys! Remember 1984-to-2003, the era of the loud PC fans? This PC is quieter, but no different. Fans need to be banned! It’s almost 2010!!! What’s wrong here?

   Touch Screen. Oh dear. I am sorry. What is the point and use of a touch screen besides to make the screen look very dim and super granular? Sorry. I don’t need and will never use a notebook with a touch screen. This was my mistake. I am a mouse man. Also the screen has limited vertical and horizontal brightness. I bought this so my girlfriend and I could watch DVDs in bed, but this is a one viewer notebook.

   This is premature, based on a delightfully stunning twenty minutes with a friend’s HP TX2-1370US. After decades of working with the world’s most powerful graphic devices, the facility, speed and accuracy with which barely legible handwriting is transformed into Segoe Print gives a pleasure that matches my Steinway B. Another bonus: response and control of the keyboard and cursor is superb. With MS ONE NOTE, this tablet is a masterpiece.

   One reviewer complained of the slowness of IE page loading. Why would anybody want to use IE instead of Firefox?

   Excellent product!

   Great features, reliable and very good battery life.

   Multi-touch screen is very responsive and laptop performance is great.

   Definitely an improvement from the previous model.

   So far this laptop has proven its worth. It’s feature rich, has great specs for a laptop it’s size and is very functional. Everything runs smoothly thanks to the decent processor and the relatively large amount of RAM.
   
   The touchscreen is bright, vivid and responsive.
   
   Battery life is satisfactory though, personally, I would prefer a 12 cell lithium-ion (but this can always be purchased separately).
   
   Wi-fi is great with the inclusion of Wireless n technology (as well as b & g) allowing for faster wireless connection speeds.
   
   320GB hard drive is a lot of storage space considering, for most people, the laptop won’t be your main PC.
   
   The new Windows 7 operating system offers many new and fun experiences, as well as the ability to perform tasks efficiently.
   
   Integrated web-cam and mic allow for video conferencing on the go.
   
   The fingerprint scanner is very cool and provides very stringent security for your system and even websites.
   
   My only peeves with the product would be the fact that there are only 2 USB ports and the absence of Bluetooth.

   In general, it’s a great laptop/tablet PC and I doubt you’ll feel cheated if you purchase it.

   Update: The unit actually has 3 USB ports and it does tend to get fairly hot at times. The fan noise is tolerable; it really isn’t THAT bad.
